Return of Birdsong

         
Children on ages between 5 to 12 are imitating endangered and rare bird species in Kenya and Finland. The final installation will be built up for four screens, every group is performing one by one while the others are listening quietly.

Return of Birdsong will be exhibited at Narinkka Square in Helsinki 21.9. 2009 and in Science Centre Heureka 17.-18.10. 2009. Video installation for four screens (2009) Aspect Ratio 16:9, stereo. 17´

The work is in the collection of Siemenpuu foundation.

Pictures:
A girl group from Mida Primary School in Gede, at the coast of the Kenya. The second one is a group from Tuorila Primary School in Karkkila, southern Finland. Recordings were made in the southern part of Finland, and at the Kenyan coast, for example inside Arabuko Sokoke forest and Mida creeks.

The letters of Aino and Allan Rusinen were hidden under the 

floor of an old house. More than fifty years later their children 

rewrote the letters on the basis of their own memories and 

visions. The original letters are still missing.

Aino ja Allan Rusisen kirjeet piiloitettiin vanhan rintama-

miestalon lattiapuruihin Asikkalassa. Yli viisikymmentä vuotta 

myöhemmin heidän lapsensa uudelleenkirjoittivat kirjeet 

omien muistojensa ja mielikuviensa pohjalta. Alkuperäiset 

kirjeet ovat edelleen kadoksissa.

Ceremony is a film about a small meadow, and about an

attempt to follow the movements of the butterflies.
